Q&A with Mikaela
What interested you about patient reported measures research and/or projects?
Cancer treatment is a highly personal experience with profound impacts. Patient-reported measures can support our patients in conveying their outcomes, experiences and burdens, to help clinicians tailor clinical management and support.
What is your biggest achievement in relation to patient reported measures research, or the application of research into practice?
Our research team has co-designed with consumers an online, engaging, inclusive digital platform to collect patient-reported health-related quality of life outcomes for children undergoing and following cancer treatment.
Our current research includes a clinical trial of the platform, employing an implementation science methodology to embed routine collection into clinical practice and a collaborative analysis of international patient-reported outcomes collected by the Paediatric Proton Photon Consortium Registry.
How do you approach collaboration with consumers, carers and community? Or how do think we can work together to keep making advancements in this space?
“Nothing about us, without us” is a key quote used by advocacy groups throughout history. It is essential that research priorities are consumer-driven and focused, to facilitate clinical translation and meaningful outcomes.
