PRMs Research Collaborative Grant Guide

Proposals should demonstrate a contribution to enhancing the future deployment of patient reported outcomes and experience measures with a focus on consumer-driven activities. Learnings and study outcomes should be translatable back into the South Australian community.

For example, projects that may be considered include:

• Explore the design factors that enhance the validity of PREM/PROMs for priority population groups such as people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse populations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• Evaluating patient device preferences for completing patient reported measure surveys
• Comparative effectiveness of new collection approaches / methods for capturing patient experience

• Applications must be a joint submission including a consumer or consumer group(s) as co-lead investigator.
• Must have a PRMs Research Collaborative member as co-Lead investigator.
• An administering institution, being a University in South Australia, or a private sector entity for the duration of the research.

The following should also be noted by applicants:

• Only one application per Investigator team is permitted. A consumer and one member should nominate as the lead investigator.
• Recipients will be required to provide progress and final reports detailing achievements of the research, publications resulting from the research and whether any subsequent funding was achieved as a result this award (final report due within three months of the end of the 12-month funding period).
• Recipients will also be required to present their findings at relevant research seminars locally, including the PRM Research Collaborative symposiums or similar events as requested.
• Acknowledgement of the funding support provided by the CEIH must be included in any presentation or paper arising from the research.
• Agreements regarding Intellectual Property will conform to SA Health and University policies.

The research project must:

• be consumer-led and have direct relevance to the SA the community
• involve some aspect of patient reported measures in a clinically relevant research-based project
• align with the Statewide PRM Program Principles
• establish and/or further develop meaningful partnerships between consumers, researchers, and clinicians.
• Have tangible output(s) that are achievable within 12 months (unless otherwise negotiated with the assessment panel)

Preference will be given to proposals that can demonstrate evidence of relevant collaboration and engagement across consumer group(s), researchers, and/or health professionals for the duration of the project and translation of learnings back to the community/consumer group in South Australia.
