South Australia PRMs Program Goes Live at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital with The Clinician’s ZEDOC solution

The South Aus­tralia Statewide Patient Report­ed Mea­sures (PRMs) Pro­gram cel­e­brat­ed its first go-live on 13^th Decem­ber 2023, with the South Aus­tralian Med­ical Imag­ing (SAMI) Nuclear Med­i­cine Ther­a­nos­tics Ser­vice imple­ment­ing The Clinician’s dig­i­tal solu­tion (ZEDOC) for the col­lec­tion & report­ing of PRMs with­in its patient cohort. The ZEDOC solu­tion, pro­vid­ed by New Zealand-based health­care com­pa­ny The Clin­i­cian, sup­ports SA Health to deliv­er patient-cen­tred, val­ue-based health­care through the real-time dig­i­tal col­lec­tion and analy­sis of patient report­ed out­come mea­sures (PROMs) and patient-report­ed expe­ri­ence mea­sures (PREMs).

Adjunct Pro­fes­sor Dr Gabrielle Cehic AM, Clin­i­cal Lead South Aus­tralian PRRT Ser­vice said, ​‘Whilst our ser­vice has been col­lect­ing Patient Report­ed Out­come Mea­sures for some years on paper, we antic­i­pate that the avail­abil­i­ty of dash­boards and report­ing in ZEDOC will tru­ly add val­ue by mak­ing key patient qual­i­ty of life infor­ma­tion avail­able to the entire service’s care­giv­ing team, in real time.’

The PRMs Pro­gram Direc­tor Megan Scott added ​‘We are so excit­ed to have achieved our first imple­men­ta­tion of The Clinician’s ZEDOC solu­tion by work­ing in part­ner­ship with the SAMI Ther­a­nos­tics ser­vice at TQEH. This impor­tant mile­stone for the pro­gram sees us deliv­er­ing on our com­mit­ment to mak­ing patient feed­back avail­able in real time for shared con­sumer & clin­i­cian deci­sion mak­ing. We look for­ward to see­ing the col­lec­tion and use of patient report­ed mea­sures in the ZEDOC solu­tion expand across SA Health services.’ 

The Clinician’s Sara Sewell, Lead Project Man­ag­er for the South Aus­tralia Health PRMs Pro­gram said ​‘The Clin­i­cian is delight­ed to be part­ner­ing with SA Health in deliv­er­ing an intel­li­gent, inno­v­a­tive, and reli­able dig­i­tal solu­tion to improve the way PROMs and PREMs are col­lect­ed, visu­alised and used, improv­ing the expe­ri­ence for patients and clin­i­cians alike.’

The Com­mis­sion on Excel­lence & Inno­va­tion in Health estab­lished the PRMs Pro­gram in 2021 and has worked with The Clin­i­cian team to con­fig­ure the ZEDOC solu­tion for use in SA Health clin­i­cal services. 

Imple­men­ta­tion will occur across sev­er­al stages until mid 2025, with the remain­ing Stage 1 ser­vices to be imple­ment­ed by the end of March 2024. Along­side ser­vice imple­men­ta­tion activ­i­ties, the PRMs Pro­gram and The Clin­i­cian con­tin­ue to col­lab­o­rate to enhance the patient expe­ri­ence and co-design dash­board capa­bil­i­ties for clin­i­cians. Work is also under­way with Dig­i­tal Health SA to achieve inte­gra­tion of the ZEDOC solu­tion into the Sun­rise Elec­tron­ic Med­ical Record (EMR).

Stage 2 & 3 imple­ment­ing ser­vices are cur­rent­ly being iden­ti­fied across mul­ti­ple Local Health Net­works with planned imple­men­ta­tion dates for these stages occur­ring dur­ing 2024.
